The Promise?

Sometimes when you're photographing at sunset on stormy days, it's worth turning around and seeing what else Mother Nature has to offer. On a late afternoon when severe thunderstorms were forecast, after setting up in anticipation of a possible shot of lightning over Bodie Island from NC 12, I drove back to the lighthouse grounds and was rewarded with a beautiful rainbow. Maybe this is a promise that the Coast Guard will put Bodie's beautiful 1st order Fresnel lens back in the lantern room after it has been fully restored?

We can always hope so!
