The Hudson River provides
some interesting photo opportunities among the lighthouses that
dot the navigable length of the river. The Tarrytown Light
is located just above the Tappan Zee Bridge on the eastern shore.
When first lighted in 1883, the lighthouse stood more than a quarter
of a mile from the shore, necessitating that the keeper and his
family row out to the light. The light is now reached
from shore by the walkway seen in the photos below.
