The Hudson-Athens Lighthouse
is the furthest north of all the Hudson River lighthouses.
The lighthouse was built astride a shallow in the Hudson River
at the location of the lighthouse that divides the river.
The lighthouse was built and first exhibited a light in November
of 1874. The lighthouse was automated in 1949. The
Hudson-Athens Lighthouse Preservation Society maintains this beautiful
lighthouse and has restored both the exterior and interior.
The lighthouse is occasionally open to visitors during the summer.
