As you photograph a particular
subject over and over again, you begin to see it differently...
in different light... at different times of the day, etc..
It is in this sense that I've begun assembling mosaics of some
of the lighthouses that I've photographed hundreds or even thousands
of times over the years. Lady Liberty is such an iconic
subject that this was one mosaic that I just had to try doing!
I suspect that this is going
to be an evolving work... it's now on its 6th iteration.
Stop back from time to time to see what I've done with it.
At some point, I have to do some dawn photograph to silhouette
Lady Liberty against the rising sun, so at least one of those
images will replace something that's in the present form of the
mosaic...
The images in this mosaic
were shot from the launch that takes you out to the Statue of
Liberty,, through a window on Ellis Island, and on the island
the statue stands on.
