The Kennebec River flows past Bath, "The City of Ships" down to the Atlantic. The shipyards in Bath had several ocean-going vessels in for repair and/or under construction when we were there. Where the river flows past Doubling Point, it is 80+ feet deep, allowing large vessels to navigate down the river into the open Atlantic Ocean.
