Pillars, or light pillars as they're sometimes called,
are uncommon natural phenomena caused by ice crystals
high in the atmosphere. For more

The Fall 2003 cover
of Great Laker magazine featured one of my
photographs of the St Joseph north pier lights being
ravaged by big waves during a gale that swept down Lake
Michigan over Memorial Day weekend 2003. That issue
also carries a photo article on my storm and gale photography
that featured storm photos of a number of the lights
in SW Michigan, including South Haven. Click the image
of the magazine cover for my information on my photography.
