Halfway Rock lighthouse can be seen from high vantage points in Portland on a clear day or as I chose to do it from Bailey Island at the end of Maine 24.  From US 1 in Cook's Corner, turn right onto Maine 24 and just keep going until you can't go any further.  From a parking lot on the right at the very end of the road you'll be able to see the Halfway Rock lighthouse off in the distance.  The view above was shot at a focal length of 900 mm, the lighthouse rising eerily up out of the marine layer the day I was there...
