Hilton Head lighthouse, built in 1970, shown surrounded by scaffolding
getting a fresh coat of paint on it's horizontal red and white
banding in April, 2003. The Harbour Town lighthouse, as it is
more correctly known, stands 90 feet tall and was originally
built as a symbol of the Sea Pines Plantation development. Admission
to the grounds of Sea Pines is open to the public for a $5 admission
charge. Climbing the lighthouse gives a good view of the harbor,
which I unfortunately didn't have time to avail myself of the
day this photo was shot.
