"September Storm"
South Haven, Michigan
In the fall and again in the spring when Lake Michigan thaws, strong winds from the southwest can drive large waves into the end of the pier at South Haven, producing billowing clouds of spray that repeatedly engulf the lighthouse. This photograph was taken September 1oth, 2001. I'll always remember the date given the horrific events that transpired in New York City and Washington, DC the following morning. This photograph was shot using a 500 mm lens from the bluff along Monroe Boulevard in South Haven.
