Anticipation: Saturday evening in November 17th, 2000 was the date scheduled for the annual relighting of the big first order Fresnel lens in the lantern room of Pigeon Point. By sunset, about 2,000 people had gathered on the lighthouse grounds and the area around the lighthouse. Numerous cars were parked along the coast highway for the event. This silhouette shows some of the many people and dozens of tripods set up to photograph it. A photo of the bullseye rays from the lighted lens is found in the Lenses, Stairs, Fences gallery in the third row center column of photos.
