The 3rd order clamshell Fresnel lens in the lantern room at Split Rock lighted in commemoration of the loss of the Edmund Fitzgerald, November 10, 1975. This photograph was taken at dusk shortly after the lens was first lighted and gives a good view of the commanding position of Split Rock lighthouse atop a 130 foot cliff overlooking Lake Superior.
