U.S. Lighthouse Establishment

This property marker is in the back corner of the Ocracoke lighthouse plot and, as can be seen from the carving, was put in place by the U.S. Lighthouse Establishment -- the governmental agency formed after the Civil War to maintain the U.S. lighthouses.
