If you decide to make Alexandria Bay a base of operation for a visit to the Thousand Islands region of the St Lawrence River, seeing the Sunken Rock lighthouse is about as simple as it gets since the lighthouse is only a stones throw from downtown Alexandria Bay.  The lighthouse sits fairly close to shore and is easy to see and photograph.  The river beyond the lighthouse is deep and ocean-going freighters frequently pass near the Sunken Rock lighthouse although none did the morning that I was there photographing.
