The first time I photographed Robbins Reef lighthouse was from an upper deck of the cruise ship Carnival Victory headed back into New York City on a very foggy/hazy morning in July 2007.  I was still happy to get some photos of the lighthouse that 10's of thousands of people pass each day on the Staten Island Ferry.  Having a chance to shoot the lighthouse from much closer on a much smaller boat a year later on a clear morning was much better photographically.
