Cape Hatteras lighthouse in the rosy light just before dawn.
The color of the sky, pink higher in the sky, and light blue down close to the horizon near the base of the Cape Hatteras light is an interesting feature of this photo. The light blue is courtesy of the Earth's shadow being cast on the atmosphere by the sun, which was behind my back, which hadn't yet risen. For photographers or anyone interested in this phenomenon, there is a nice article describing this in more detail to be found in the May 2004 issue of Shutterbug magazine in an article on pg 31 by Frank Weston.
