Sturgeon Bay Reflection

This image won first place in the color photography category of the 6th Annual Door County Maritime Museum's Juried Photo Contest.

This photograph of the Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, north pierhead light was shot at about 9:20 PM in June, 2001. The dramatic 4 minute exposure captures the reflection of the red light in the lantern room on the still waters of Lake Michigan. The beautiful cobalt blue of the sky and lake is caused by severe reciprocity failure - both would otherwise be black at this time of day.
