This wave animation is from the gale that swept across the lake on November 13th, 2005. The winds were sustained at 45-55 mph, gusting to as high as 75 mph according to the local TV weather that night, which is the wind velocity of a category 1 hurricane! This animation is 25 frames long, which is the full capacity of my buffer in the Nikon D2H used to shoot these images. The sequence was shot at 8 frames/sec, 515x800 pixels, and is roughly a 5 Mbyte file. There are also versions linked via the buttons below that run at half and quarter real time speeds. Please be patient and give it time to load... this particular wave was truly spectacular even among all of those that I've seen and photographed!
