"In the Channel" -- DeWatteville Island range lights

Looking down river when the black vertical alignment stripes are positioned one directly atop the other, with triangle tips pointed together, a pilot knows that he or she is in the deep water channel as shown in this image. At night, the lights from the front and rear range lights will be directly above one another.
